The Scope
As an e-commerce client, The Wood Veneer Hub’s primary goal is to drive real, convertible traffic to their product pages. As part of our ongoing SEO strategy for the client, we grow their backlink profile and increase their SERP rankings for specific keywords. As part of an ongoing SEO strategy that encompassed both on-site and off-site activity, Brick Digital engaged in link building on The Wood Veneer Hub’s behalf, seeking to develop their backlink profile and increase online brand visibility.
There are more than 26.5 million ecommerce websites worldwide, with new ones created every day. This makes for a highly competitive space, and The Wood Veneer Hub approached us with the hopes of increasing their band’s visibility and sales conversions.
Given their involvement in the interior design space, we knew that there would be lucrative opportunities to place high-quality content in lifestyle websites, as well as those focused around DIY. More than this, the topic of sustainability could play a part in our link building strategy, given the nature of the client’s sustainable business practices.
WIth this in mind, our research began with Brick’s Link Building team exploring the search landscape around interior design and wall panelling.
To begin with, we identified the seasonal shifts in search terms around interior design and wood wall panelling through the year, with the aim of “hijacking” these naturally-occurring trending interests. If people were searching for different design trends at a specific time of year, we wanted The Wood Veneer Hub’s articles to be among the top results to appear during this time.
From the resulting data, we identified the most popular search terms that would drive relevant traffic toward the client’s websites, keeping in mind the different search terms that ranked in both the UK and the US – territories targeted by The Wood Veneer Hub. We also explored themes around sustainability to see how important it was to those searching for these terms.
Our research efforts brought us to write expert content around exciting topics such as upcycling, engaging in DIY projects on a budget and exploring design trends over the past 50 years. Our articles placed successfully in a broad range of quality lifestyle and home improvement websites, as well as garnering an expert commentary request and backlink in the popular magazine website Homes & Gardens (published by Future PLC) which has organic search traffic of 1.6 million.
Each theme for link building was selected with strategy in mind, taking into consideration the seasonality of search to enhance the relevance of the content produced. Aside from generating strong, valuable backlinks for The Wood Veneer Hub, all content was designed to inform and educate – positioning the client as a knowledgeable expert and authoritative voice in their industry and striking off all the boxes of Google’s EEAT checklist.
